Ever feel like your shoulders are carrying more than their fair share of life’s load? Do you find your shoulders scrunched up by your ears as you scroll through the 24 hour bad news cycle? The amount of time we spend on computers and smart devices these days with our heads pulled chronically forward and down is making the job of our shoulders more and more challenging!
Your shoulders contribute to the function of your hands and arms as well as support the heavy weight of your head and neck. When the muscles and tendons of the shoulder girdle get overused or used inefficiently, tension and strain set in.
In this one-day workshop we will explore, improve and clarify the interconnection between your shoulders and the rest of yourself. If you better understand how your shoulders are part of a system rather than just a part that gives you trouble, you can learn to use your whole system with more ease and less pain.
We will use gentle Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement® lessons to unlock your brain’s creative process. Exploring your habits and preferences we will find better use of the arms by learning to connect them to the action of your spine and pelvis, discover the way the ribs contribute to the freedom of your shoulders and find out how your breathing changes when your head is organized better over your center of gravity.

Kelly Feder GCFT is a Guild Certified Feldenkrais Method® Teacher with 15 years of experience helping people recognize the habits that are limiting you in your thinking, sensing, feeling and moving. Through gentle touch, non-judgement, curiosity, awareness and guided movement sequences, Kelly will partner with you to improve your well being. Whether you want to get rid of chronic aches and pains or simply improve the way you move; your nervous system with the support of the Feldenkrais Method can change the brain patterns and habits that limit you. If you are joining remotely, you will need access to wifi so you can access ZOOM. This can be on any electronic device. A place to lie down on the floor.
We will need a minimum of 10 participants to hold this workshop.
