The alchemy of movement in nature in community…
Have you noticed how charged your nervous system is these days? So much stress, discord and anxiety in the world is causing many of us to operate from a more agitated, fight, flight or freeze state of the autonomic nervous system.
What is the recipe for change?
I’m interested in exploring the alchemy of three things I find great resource in: Feldenkrais movement, the natural world and human community. All three of these activate my senses, bring me into a state of presence and self observation and offer new possibilities toward growth and transformation.
Many of you know the settled, spacious feeling that comes from an Awareness Through Movement lesson.
Many of you know how nurturing it is to spend time in the natural world, just opening our senses to the beauty and joy that is there.
Many of you know the sigh of relief you feel when burdens and worries are shared with others who have the capacity to be fully present, listening and receiving you.
What if these are some of the key ingredients to the recipe for our collective healing?

Find JOY in Reconnecting and Practicing Feldenkrais Together…
I recently read an article, Our Vital Human Need to Move Together by Danielle Loewen. She asks, “What if deep inside our bodies and our brains, there is a basic human need to move together? What if some of our more persistent problems — social and individual — result from this need being unmet? More urgently, collective movement might be a key piece of how we heal from the scars of the pandemic.”
Here is a link to the full article.
There is something soothing, synergistic, calming when we do Awareness Through Movement together. “Please lie on your back”, becomes a call to synchronize with the bodies around us in a collective practice of quality attention, curiosity and elegant movement. To couple this with sensory rich experience of being under a clear blue sky, the smell of pine trees in the air and the sound of song birds near by, activates another level of sensory and collective intelligence. If these ideas resonate with you, please join me this spring in a monthly gathering outdoors!
